It’s been a few months since I last featured a So Susan Lip Love Bag review so I’m delighted to welcome them back to the blog but unfortunately it will be my last review for a while until I can find that work, blog, life balance! For July, So Susan have featured a good selection of products on the make-up front accompanied by a pretty pouch which has such a powerful slogan and everything’s been handpicked to perfection to compliment their tropical theme. If you’re looking for a cruelty-free subscription that’s make-up centric then this monthly subscription is the perfect destination which not only allows you to experiment with a host of products and shades in the comfort of your home it excitingly also includes new launches from brands such as So Susan, Jelly Pong Pong and Trifle Cosmetics.

The So Susan collection ranges from make-up to nail varnish combining their lovely portfolio of colours with science. Their philosophy is to create colours which last, are cruelty free and also much kinder to your skin. As well as the philosophy behind the brand, I love the feminine and pretty designed packaging which always stands out for me. I’ve tried quite a few products from their collection and already have quite a few firm favourites plus they house their products in such pretty packaging!

Here’s quick overview of what you can expect to see inside their July edition:

Up first we have the So Susan Cosmetics Concealer Brush (RRP £16.94) which is a very good sized concealer brush perfect for covering larger areas. This versatile and cruelty-free brush is made from synthetic nylon & taklon hairs only. I own quite a few brushes by So Susan and I’m really happy to welcome another to my stash as the quality of their brushes are so good and feel lovely on the skin too!

Nothing says summer than the smell of coconuts so the Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Coffee + Coconut Lip Scrub (RRP £14.66) was such a fitting item for their tropical theme minus the coffee of course! This shea butter-based lip scrub helps to keep your lips smooth, free from dead skin, plumped & primed and is formulated with pure golden sugar, jojoba and rosehip oil. I do love sugar scrubs, they do a great job perfecting your lips prior to applying a matte lipstick plus some of them taste pretty good too!

Talking of matte lips, up next is the Trifle Cosmetics Cream Bar in ‘Cake Island’ (RRP £16.21), a scrumptiously smooth and tasty Agave infused matte lipstick which doesn’t leave your lips craving for moisture thanks to the addition of almond Oil. The shade Cake Island is a very summery fushia pink and it really packs a punch!

Lastly is the Nomad Cosmetics Cachorros Eyeshadow (£9.26), a mint green eyeshadow inspired by the classic American cars of decades past, ubiquitous in La Habana Vieja and it’s such a unique addition to my collection shade-wise. Described as smooth, rich and super pigmented, the eyeshadow is infused with Papaya Seed Oil to help nourish the skin and also helps to keep the colour looking fresh and vibrant. It’s also free of parabens, phthalates & mineral oil and is peta certified, cruelty-free and vegan.

My Verdict

With beautiful pops of colour, this month’s Lip Love Bag really embraces the season and was perfectly curated to match their tropical theme – it’s a very vacation-ready line-up! Their July edit showcased a good selection on the make-up front with a pretty make-up pouch to match and as always every single item’s full sized so you’ll definitely be able to judge whether the products/shades work for you or not. I have a couple of favourites so far, the concealer brush is great quality and the matte lip lipstick is a true winner thanks to the moisturising and pigmented formula.

If you favour make up over skin care then the So Susan Lip Love Bag is the perfect destination to get acquainted with a cruelty-free collection from brands such as So Susan, Jelly Pong Pong and Trifle Cosmetics plus with only full size products on board it’s such a guilt-free way to build up your make up stash without breaking the bank. One of the aspects I really love is that So Susan are always churning out new revolutionary products so you can always expect to discover something new as well as some of their classic and popular products too.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box Review – July 2017

*July Look Fantastic Beauty Box
Price of the Box: Subscriptions start from £13.00 per month including P&P
No. of Products in the Box – 7
Worth: £60.00+

It’s a new month and Look Fantastic have kick started July with a beautiful design for their Pretty in Paradise edit – they know how to package a box that’s for sure! I’m completely obsessed with palm-printed anything so this month’s box definitely had my name all over it and even if they sent me an empty box I don’t think I would have been too upset! Luckily that wasn’t the case at all and amongst the line-up you can expect to see a varied host of beauty treats from both well-known brands and those that are lesser known and excitedly the majority of the products featured are all new discoveries so that was certainly a good start!

The Look Fantastic box offers a selection of handpicked, must have beauty fixes wrapped in a beautifully presented box and delivered straight to your door. The beauty box will always include a minimum of six products and offers a selection of skin care, hair care, cosmetics and body products, catering for every beauty lover.

This month’s box is filled with a generous mix of both full size and generous sized samples and showcases products from Moroccan Oil, Cowshed, Regenerate, Jelly Pong Pong, Imedeen, Mimitika and Hot Makeup.

Here’s what I received inside my July Box:

Up first and something I was excited to see is the MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Serum (Travel size 75ml)  – when you spend around 10 minutes in the morning trying to detangle your hair without adding frizz you would be excited too! Perfect for all hair types, this leave-in styling cream is described as a lightweight and moisturising formula that creates soft styles for a natural feel. It also conditions, hydrates and fights frizz, especially for coarse and dry hair. MoroccanOil is also paraben and mineral Oil free. I gave this a try a couple of days ago and the formula is light, non-sticky and made my hair shiny without looking greasy. So far, the frizz and the flyaways haven’t been as bad so it will be interesting to see if this is still the case once the weather really warms up!

I absolutely love what I’ve tried so far from Cowshed and I’ve recently taken quite a liking to their Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion but I’ve never tried anything from their skin care collection so their Chamomile Refreshing Toner (Travel Size 50ml) not only was a welcomed addition but it feels amazing on the skin and smells so, so good! This Refreshing toner with Chamomile and Lavender essential oils also contains organic Aloe Vera and Rose Otto extract to remove surface impurities, leaves a soothing effect and prepares the skin for moisturising. Free from alcohol and is suitable for all skin types.

As we are now officially in summer territory, it’s no surprise to see sun protection slowly being rolled out inside some of the subscription boxes! The Mimitika Face Sunscreen SPF50 (Travel Size) is completely new on my radar and is a French-based brand developed by and created for dedicated sun lovers. Offering high level, broad spectrum defence against UVA and UVB rays, the lightweight formula rapidly absorbs into skin without leaving behind any greasy residue or white cast, while it remains water-resistant for up to 80 minutes and works to stimulate natural melanin production for a more even and healthy looking tan. It’s ideal for daily use alone or as a base for makeup.

On the makeup front and another new discovery is the Hot Makeup Bronzer (Full size $35.00), a matte bronzer to contour and define and promises a natural sunkissed look that blends naturally and effortlessly onto the skin.

Up next is the Jelly Pong Pong Bare Necessities Highlighting Pencil (Full size RRP £15.00), a cruelty-free creamy highlighter, eye shadow base, waterliner & concealer all-in-one pencil packed with antioxidant rich Maracuja and Rooibos Tea extracts which help condition the skin.

Lastly you can also expect to see a sample of the Imedeen Advanced Beauty Shot (15ml) and the Regenerate Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste (15ml)

My Verdict

This month’s Look Fantastic design just screams summer to me and being such a palm print obsessive I’d say this was definitely just one of the highlights that made this box so appealing! Design aside, I think this was a pretty good box, full of new discoveries, good value for money and not only included some practical essentials to beat the heat but it also included some make-treats too! As far as the variety of products goes, the July edit was quite well-curated and other than the tooth paste and the Imedeen sample which didn’t excite me at all I have come across a couple favourites – the MoroccanOil Styling Serum and the Cowshed Toner are the obvious winners from what I’ve tried so far!

The Look Fantastic Beauty Box is the perfect destination to try a range of beauty brands without the hefty price tag and for with subscriptions starting from £13.00 it’s such a guilt-free option to trial beauty products from brands we all love and know alongside some new discoveries too.
